Lake Bled is one of the glacier lakes in the Julian Alps, adjoins the town of Bled, about 1 hour away from Ljubljana.
It is absolutly worth a visit as it is one of the most picturesque spot in Slovenia. The small lake has an insland in the middle with a church and an old castle upon a hilltop with great view of the area.
Many locals and tourists like to come here as it is relaxing and charming to walk around, breathe the fresh alpin air.
You can take a swim in the lake during summer (still a bit cold), but a perfect winter wonderland during cold times.
Take a boatride or rent a rowboat to visit Bled Island and the Assumption of Mary Church.
Bled Castle is more then 1000 years old, sit on a cliff and offer great view of the lake area. You can go in to see the museum or down to the wine cellar or have a lunch/dinner in the restaurant. (there is an admission fee to go into the museum).
If you prefer walk or hike around the lake you can do that, the western part of the lake is more natural feeling, with less hotels and tourists. Yes, you can walk around the lake or bike around.
Paddle boarding is available on the lake during summer.

How to get to Lake Bled from Budapest?
It is super easy, although lake bled is 5 hours away. Eurobusways offers regular private or shared shuttle bus from Budapest towards Bled, Ljubljana and Venice.
