Bike share in Budapest

Shared bike rental

Oldest first. The shared bike rental called MOL Bubi. It is a docked version of bike rentals, you need to register first at any BKK (the budapest transport company) office where they block 25000HUF on your card. Different passes available from 24hrs to annual, from 500HUF (around 1.5 EUR).

The usage area is pretty big. MOL Bubi has 127 stations and 1546 bikes. So you can use it most of all major areas of Budapest. MOL Bubi in english.

CarSharing Budapest

Car sharing

Two players are on this market. First was GreenGo and than MOLLimo (yes, another brand of MOL, the hungarian oil company) came. GreenGo offers only electric cars (VW eUP), while MOLLimo has a mixed fleet of eUPs, VW UPs with petrol engine and Mercedes A series with petrol engine also.

You have to register first with your ID/Driving Licence (you have to go personally into their offices in downtown), than you can use it with an app on per minute base. No parking, petrol needs to pay.

GreenGo starts at 65 HUF/min (0.25 cent). MOLLimo starts at 66 HUF/min.

The biggest disadvantage is the area you can use it as limited to downtown, not reach places like Budapest Airport either.

UPDATE!

DriveNow carshare available in Budapest with BMW/Mini cars, no all electric (i3s are coming later) for similar plans (based on minutes).

Moped rental Budapest

Moped

Blinkee.city is originally a polish company (yes you can rent these scooters out in 17 polish cities and in Croatia too) with arm in Budapest. It offers a rentable electric moped.

It works through an app, you need to register yourself, than runs on a per minute or per day basis. Starts from 49HUF/min. (students 44HUF). No need to refill, they provide safety helmet, no (or less) parking problems then with a car.

Lime scooter

Yes, Budapest will be the next city for Lime to take. Dockless electric scooters will be available in a short period of time on the streets of Budapest.

Will work through the app, no local pricing yet.

Meantime Lime scooters are available on public beta test on several points of Budapest. These are reachable through the LimeApp.Uber, Bolt taxi app

Uber is not working in Budapest. Bolt (former Taxify) is a taxi company based on app. It works on normal taxi fares, but more visibility added, so probably you won't take a rouge driver with high extra fares. Simply you can download the app, than order a cab.

Taxi fares are fixed in Budapest, 700HUF (2.5 EUR) as base fare, and add 300HUF (1EUR)/km or 75HUF/min. (0.25EUR) waiting fee.
