Best options to get to Budapest from Budapest Airport
Visiting Budapest? If you arrive by plane to Budapest Airport, here are some options how to get into the city.
Public transportation, bus
There are two bus lines from Budapest Airport into the city. The older one the 200E is going only to Kobanya Kispest underground station, where you have to change to metro line M3, which goes into the city center. The newer line of 200E connects the airport directly to city center, the Deak Ferenc square.
While normal ticket is ok for 100E, to ride on 200E you have to buy a special ticket for 900 HUF (3 EUR) at the counter or from driver. The 200E buses go quite frequently, but not enough as the bus can be crawded in the morning/evening specially on weekends.
UPDATE!, recently the transportation company accounced, that they will do bus 100E more frequent. in every 20min (instead of 30), no stop between Deak Ferenc sq and Budapest Airport and the buses will arrive to the arrival area.
200E buses will go non-stop, means there will be buses during night also.
Taxi
There is only one official taxi company, which waiting in lines at the arrival zone. This is the Fotaxi. One ride cost around 20 EUR/cab (up to 5people) and takes around 20-40min depends on location and traffic.
You can rent a taxi at the booth inside the terminal building. There usually a queue for taxies. You can pay cash or card to driver.
If you do not want to get an official taxi and wait in a long line sometimes, try Taxify, it is an app based taxi service.
Airport minibus
Airport minibus service can be ordered at the desk inside the terminal building. It is a shuttle service, where they collect people going to about the same direction. They use minibuses (9 seaters). Cost from the airport to inner district around 22 EUR for two persons.

Train
As no direct train connection to Terminal 2 A/B only to Terminal 1, which is closed now. Train is not an option or not a good option.
You have to take a bus/taxi to the Airport train station, than wait for the train, which takes you Nyugati train station straight.
Uber
No Uber service available in Budapest.
