Things to see and things to do in Hallstatt
Old Town area - the so called 'old town' is literally a main street (Seestrasse) a few streets in the old part of the village, but it offers some great spot. Nice little houses next to each other, while you can step in to the Welterbemuseum. The museum is about the rich history of the village and the nearby areas from 7000 years.
The House of Bones (Beinhaus) is one of the most known sight in Hallstatt. Next to the Maria Himmelfahrt church, you can see the House of Bones, which displays 610 well preserved human skull.
Main square of Hallstatt, its a small square, surrounded by shops and restaurants with a fountain in the middle. That's the place for the Advent/Christmas market also.
Salt Mine of Hallstatt, up on the hill (you can get there by funicular or climb up to the top), you can find the main source of wealth in Hallstatt. The salt mine. Now its a tourist attraction but it was the main source of income for thousands of years.
