Things to do and see in Split, Croatia
Split is a fast paced, historic town and a transport center for central Dalmatia. To the north are Trogir and Salona and the Krka National Park, while the beaches of Baška Voda and the port of Makarska are to the south. Split is also a good point to start for exploring more islands by ferry to the islands of Brac, Vis, Hvar, and Korcula.
The city center is located around the Dioclecian's Palace (he was the first citizen on Split) and the medieval Old Town area. Follow the small lanes and streets, check out all the local shops, jewellery stores and fine restaurants. Majority of the cities night clubs, restaurants, pubs and bars are within the Old Town area.
The Marjan hill is the 'lungs of Split'. Worth to climb up to the lookout terraces, walk in the reserved forest area, specially on hot summer days. You can check out nice beaches on the other side of Marjan hill as well as other great beaches available just a stone-throw away from the port.
As it is one of the busiest port of Croatia, you can go around the explore the nearby islands or just as a day tour the Blue Caves.
